This first semester of college was overall a great experience. Learning how to adjust and be flexible to new situations is a skill that I will take with me through the rest of my life. Being entirely in charge of my coursework and life was a valuable lesson. My main takeaway from this semester was adjusting to my issue of being a perfectionist. I have learned that, realistically, perfection is not always an option, and it is okay to make mistakes sometimes. Being faced with situations where perfection is not an option has allowed me to change how I approach things in life. Before college, I put extreme pressure on myself to ensure I got perfect grades and scores. Going through this first semester opened my eyes to realize that the essential thing in life is to achieve my best. Sometimes it may be perfection, and other times it may not be.
